Terms of Service

Effective date: October 26, 2026  ·  Last updated: October 26, 2026

Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and MINDLANDSCAPE LLC ("we," "our," or "us"), the company that makes Pauz. By downloading, accessing, or using the Pauz app or pauzapp.com (together, "Pauz"), you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Pauz.

Pauz is not medical care
Pauz is a self-help and wellness tool. It is not a medical device, and it is not therapy, counseling, diagnosis, treatment, or an emergency or crisis service. Nothing in Pauz — including check-ins, insights, articles, goals, or Richard — is medical, psychological, or professional advice.

Pauz does not replace care from a licensed professional. If you are working with a therapist, doctor, or other provider, follow their guidance over anything in the app. Talk to a qualified professional before making decisions about your health, treatment, or medication.

In an emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number). If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, US). For possible poisoning or medication overdose, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

Who can use Pauz

You must be at least 13 years old to use Pauz. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you may only use Pauz with the permission of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. You're responsible for keeping your account login secure and for activity on your account.

Richard, our AI chat companion

Richard is an AI chatbot designed to refuse reassurance-seeking questions, often with humor. By using Richard, you understand and agree that:

  • Richard's replies are generated by artificial intelligence provided by a third party (Anthropic). They can be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate, and you should not rely on them.
  • Richard is intentionally designed not to reassure you, and his tone is sarcastic. He uses profanity unless you turn swearing off in the chat.
  • Richard cannot assess your health or safety, does not monitor conversations, and cannot contact anyone on your behalf.
  • Your messages are sent to our AI provider to generate replies, as described in our Privacy Policy. Don't share information you don't want processed that way.
  • You won't use Richard to try to obtain harmful content or to get around his safety features.
Subscriptions, free trials, and billing

Some features require a paid Pauz+ subscription. Subscriptions are purchased and managed through Apple's App Store, and the following applies:

  • Prices and plan details are shown in the app before you purchase.
  • If you start a free trial, your subscription begins and you are charged when the trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple ID settings. Deleting the app or your Pauz account does not cancel your subscription.
  • Payments and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. We can't issue refunds directly.
Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Pauz for anything illegal or harmful, or to harm or harass others.
  • Copy, modify, resell, or redistribute Pauz or its content, except as these Terms allow.
  • Reverse engineer, interfere with, or try to gain unauthorized access to Pauz, our servers, or other users' data.
  • Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access Pauz.
Your content

You own what you enter into Pauz, such as check-ins, notes, and goals. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to run Pauz for you, as described in our Privacy Policy. You can delete your account and data at any time from Profile → Delete Account.

Our content

Pauz, including its design, text, articles, graphics, the Mind Landscape framework, and logos, belongs to MINDLANDSCAPE LLC or its licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

Changes and ending access

We may update, change, or discontinue features of Pauz at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. You can stop using Pauz at any time and delete your account in the app.

Disclaimers

Pauz is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise that Pauz will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will produce any particular result for your mental health or wellbeing.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, MINDLANDSCAPE LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or health-related outcomes, arising from your use of Pauz or reliance on anything in it, including Richard's replies. Our total liability for any claim relating to Pauz is limited to the amount you paid us for Pauz in the 12 months before the claim. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Apple App Store

If you downloaded Pauz from the App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are between you and MINDLANDSCAPE LLC, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Pauz or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for any product claims, intellectual-property claims, or legal-compliance claims relating to Pauz. If Pauz fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price, if any, and Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of Pauz must also comply with Apple's Usage Rules.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Arizona, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Arizona, unless the law where you live requires otherwise.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this section and, for significant changes, let you know through the app. Continuing to use Pauz after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
